About Us
Horizons at MSD is an affiliate of Horizons Colorado. As the only Horizons ECE school in Colorado and just the second Montessori Horizons program in the nation, MSD launched our first program for three-year-old students in June 2024, and added four-year-old students in 2025. This program will continue to grow each year, with the goal to serve 100 students from preschool–8th grade when fully complete.
Located in Virginia Village in southeast Denver, Horizons at MSD partners with our neighbors at Ellis and McMeen Elementary schools, providing academic enrichment, swimming lessons with our neighborhood partner Little Kickers, and a supportive long-term community. Grounded in Montessori principles, our program provides daily breakfast, lunch and snacks, bilingual instruction, small student groupings for social-emotional learning, and a carefully prepared learning environment designed specifically to capitalize on each student’s natural curiosity and love of learning.

Inspiring. Building. Nurturing.
The Problem: Gaps of opportunity and achievement between under-resourced students and their more affluent peers affect thousands of students in Colorado.
The Opportunity: Horizons at MSD students discover the joy of learning, the skills for success, and the inspiration to realize their dreams.
The Results: Increased school attendance. Improved self-esteem. Better grades. A love of learning. And endless possibilities.
Building Community
“It’s more important than ever for independent schools to ask ourselves, with the resources that we have, with whom are we not yet working – working together to build stronger communities, creating programmatic possibilities, and making our own communities more diverse and more inclusive than they have been.” - Mike Hanas, Head of School, San Francisco Friends School, San Francisco, CA
